Stock market opens new week with rallies

Ending the trading session on May 24,
Vietnam's stock market rallied on both bourses Hochiminh Stock Exchange
(STC) and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX).
After the first phase, the VN Index regained 1.41 points or 0.29 percent
to 485.1 pts with the total trading volume of 4.1 million shares worth
118.2 billion dong.
In the following stage, the VN Index bounced 2.77 points or 0.57 percent
to 486.46 pts with the total trading volume of 33 million shares valued
at over one trillion dong.
Finally, the VN Index rebounded 2.5 points or 0.52 percent to end at
486.19 pts with the total matching order trade of nearly 39 million
shares and fund certificates for 1.21 trillion dong, down 32 percent in
volume and 35 percent in value against the previous session.
The stock market today saw 125 gainers with 31 reaching the ceiling
price, 78 losers with 16 slipping to the floor price and 29 standing
still at the comparative price.
Most Blue-chips gained points such as SSI, FPT, ITA, PPC, KBC, REE, VIC,
VCB, PVD, HAG, CTG, VNM, STB, VNE, VHG, SAM and PVT whereas others lost
points like BVH, PVF and OGC.
In terms of trading volume, SSI led the market with 2.93 million shares
and followed by NTB with 1.36 million, STB 1.35 million, EIB 1.23
million and others like PVT, ITA, CII and ANV.
Similarly, the HNX Index also rallied 3.72 points or 2.44 percent to
close at 156.41 pts with the total market trade of 37.1 million shares
valued at 1.092 trillion dong, falling 14 percent in volume and 11
percent in value from a trading session earlier.
The statistic showed that amongst 294 share codes on the northern
bourse, 204 shares increased, 74 decreased, eight remained unchanged and
eight with no trades.
Some reached the ceiling price such as KLS, APS, AVS, BVS, SME, CTS,
SME, SHS, TAS, VIG, VIX, and WSS whereas some fell to the floor price
including PVA, SRA, HJS, and PDC.
PVX still reached the biggest trading volume with 4.2 million shares and
then KLS with 3.3 million, VCG 1.57 million and others including PVL,
VSP, PVA and BVS.
Foreign investors today took 921,400 shares while offloaded 227,900
shares worth 22.6 billion dong and 6.79 billion dong respectively. They
mainly bought KLS-coded shares with 597,700 and sold PVX with 37,500
shares.
